“Geoism” is a term that I use to describe the style of my work. My paintings have a wide range of textures created by sculpting earthen materials and using native dyes whenever possible. I also use a wide range of other media to express the textures needed to capture geologic concepts and the beauty of nature.

“Salt” is 15”x 30“ painting inspired by salt formations as seen on seismic sections in the Gulf Of Mexico. Salt formations differ from rock formations in that they are less dense than the rocks that lay above and below them. Since the salt is lighter it is trying to rise, much like the globs in a lava lamp. This causes salt formations to have irregular shapes from where the salt is attempting to work its way to the surface. Least we forget the salt and pepper shakers.
