 Earth's Little Easter Eggs

Jewel Of the Void (Geode)                      $495.00

This multimedia painting is 12"X12" and inspired by a geologic specimen known as a geode. Geodes are formed when there is a void in the Earth, this can be caused by a number of different processes but the most common is gas bubbles forming during the birth of most of the planets new rock during volcanic eruptions.  The Earth hates voids so immediatly the void starts being filled by minerals that are deposited in fine layers from mineral rich waters that percolate through the void. As the composition of the fluids change passing through so do the minerals that are forming inside the geode. I like to think of the geode as Earth's little Easter eggs.
