“Geoism” is a term that I use to describe the style of my work. My paintings have a wide range of textures created by sculpting earthen materials and using native dyes whenever possible. I also use a wide range of other media to express the textures needed to capture geologic concepts and the beauty of nature.

"Psycedelic Ammonite"
30"x40", mixed media on canvas,          $2,395.00

This 30"X 40" abstract painting of a fossil known as an ammonite. Ammonites grow is a spiral pattern, adding chambers as they expand outward. When the ammonite dies the chambers fill with different types of geologic materials. Specimens have been found from the tiny to ones that measure up to four feet across. The larger ammonite specimens are rarely seen in cross section, due to size, few saws can cut them. I’ve created paintings in natural tones but I was interested to see the result of using abstract textures and colors. I enjoyed the results enough that I started a series of geologic paintings using colorings and textures that are different than that seen in nature. I find the results fun.
